CYS RED RIBBON CELEBRATION"S "HEALTHY ME IS THE BEST WAY TO BE" POSTER OPPORTUNITY
Youth Services has a poster contest for Red Ribbon Week. Pick up a blank poster in the office with instructions! The contest will run from Sept 30-Oct 14 with submissions due by Oct 14th. We’ll choose one winner and one runner up from each school. First prize is $100 Amazon gift card, Runner up gets $50 gift card. The posters are going to be featured as placemats in local restaurants during Red Ribbon Week which is Oct 23rd-Oct 31st.

CES MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE TEAM
Dear CES Families,
When your child is absent or will be late please call the absence line to report this at 860-5370717 and press 1. Give your child's full name, teacher, and the reason why they will be late or absent. To follow up, we require written communications to excuse tardiness and absences within (10) days. In the case of an emergency change, call the office at 860 537 0717
If you need to change your child's after-school transportation or you need to pick them up early, please send A Note to the CES Office in the morning with your child. The notes are easily utilized as they have spaces for your child’s full name, teacher's name, your full name, the date, and a multitude of reasons that you can check off. The notes are then placed on a list by the teacher, and the office creates sheets of data for all dismissal personnel. We understand that emergencies do happen and in that case, the email may be used. All changes must be made prior to 2:30 p.m.

FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH IMPORTANT UPDATE
There has been some misinterpretation and miscommunication regarding free/reduced meals and the SMART fund. For any student that was eligible for free or reduced-priced meals last school year (2021-22), will remain eligible until October 13, 2022, unless the student is determined to be eligible for the school year 2022-23, either through the State of Connecticut or by submitting a free/reduced application that is approved. Families eligible for free/reduced meals will receive a letter before October 1. SMART Fund (School Meals Assistance Revenue for Transition) - Colchester Public Schools has opted into participating in this fund. It provides free breakfast and lunch to students at the beginning of the school year. This fund will not last the entire school year, so this is temporary. The District Nutrition Program Coordinator will inform families approximately 30 days before the funds run out.
