FAMILY INVITATION FOR VETERANS DAY

Colchester Elementary School is having an all-school Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 10th at 9:00 a.m. Afternoon preschool students are welcome to attend with their families. We consider this a very important celebration. It’s an opportunity for PreK-2 students to learn about history and thank those who have or presently serve in the Armed Forces, to protect our freedoms. If there is a family member who is a veteran or presently serves in the Armed Forces, and he/she would like to be a part of our ceremony, they are most welcome. Participating Veterans or people presently serving in the Armed Forces are invited to join us prior to the ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in the CES cafeteria for light refreshments. Read our full letter to families regarding Veterans Day from Principal Judy O’Meara for all of the details.

VETERANS DAY STAR

To make our program meaningful, we would like to honor CES families and staff members that have veterans in their families. Please help us do this by completing the attached star. If you’d like to include a picture, feel free to share a photo of a family member in the Armed Forces, your child reading a book about Veterans Day or heroes, smiling next to a veteran, or painting an American flag. We believe the possibilities are endless!  Please have your child bring the star and/or picture to his/her classroom teacher by Friday, October 28th. We will display the stars and photos in a hallway for all to see. If you would like the picture to be returned, please put your child’s name and his/her teacher’s name on the back of the picture.

A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE TEAM

Dear CES Families,

When your child is absent or will be late please call the absence line to report this at 860-5370717 and press 1. Give your child's full name, teacher, and the reason why they will be late or absent. To follow up, we require written communications to excuse tardiness and absences within (10) days. In the case of an emergency change, call the office at 860 537 0717.

If you need to change your child's after-school transportation or you need to pick them up early, please send A Note to the CES Office in the morning with your child. The notes are easily utilized as they have spaces for your child’s full name, teacher's name, your full name, the date, and a multitude of reasons that you can check off. The notes are then placed on a list by the teacher, and the office creates sheets of data for all dismissal personnel. We understand that emergencies do happen and in that case, email may be used. All changes must be made prior to 2:30 p.m.
