Dear CES Families,

We hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather!  May is always an exciting month.  In collaboration with the Spring PTO Book Fair, our school community will come together to celebrate a fun-filled project-based family event. All are welcome to attend.  It will be held on Thursday, May 19th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.

Highlights of the Event:

  • Celebrating Students Artwork:  All PreK - grade 2 students will self-select a piece of art from their art portfolio created during Mrs. Goodie’s art classes. Each piece of art will be proudly displayed on lockers throughout the school hallways. Families will walk along the  School Art Trail to view the various art projects.

  • Theme Based Event: On the picture book  MAYBE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL:  How Art Transformed a Neighborhood. The text is based on the true story of the Urban Art Trail in San Diego, California. It reveals how art can inspire transformation—and how even the smallest artists can accomplish something big. Pick up a paintbrush, chalk and crayon to join the celebration!

  • Project-Based Activities hosted by CES Staff: Different project-based activities will be set up at centers in the CES cafeteria, gymnasium, nearby classrooms, and the hallway. School staff will manage and monitor each station. Families rotate throughout each activity based on individual  interest.

  • PTO Book Fair: Book Fair will be open in the Media Center from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.

  • We remind families to monitor their children  closely.

  • Main playground will be open during and after the event.

  • Refreshments will be available sponsored by the PTO.

  • Children are encouraged to follow  school rules while on CES grounds.

We will also be welcoming incoming kindergarten families at our Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday, May 26th from 4:45-6:15 PM.  If you have a child that will be starting kindergarten next year, please join us in the CES cafeteria to:

  • Tour the school

  • Visit classrooms

  • Preview a day in the life of a kindergartener

  • Have your questions answered

Parents will meet with our staff while children participate in activities with kindergarten teachers.

As always, thank you for your continued support and teamwork.  We are very lucky to be part of such a collaborative community.

Best,
