May, 2021

Dear CES Families,

We hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather!  We are excited to share that Mrs. Amado welcomed her baby into the world on April 25th.  Isla Jean was born at 3:10 pm.  Both mom and baby are doing well.

We also want to welcome Mrs. Rosie Payne back to CES as she supports our school in Mrs. Amado’s absence.  Mrs. Payne is a seasoned educator and has worked in several interim positions in the Colchester Public Schools. We are pleased that she has joined us! She has experience as an Early Childhood educator and school administrator as well as a strong background in special education. Her love for teaching is evident. She enjoys watching children grow and learn as she visits and observes in classrooms. She is familiar with the school’s philosophy and school rules. You may see her on bus duty in the morning or when students are boarding the buses at the end of the day.  In these unprecedented times, we welcome you to say hello via email or phone.  Her email is RPayne@cholchesterct.org.  If she can assist you, please do not hesitate to contact her at CES.

In the month of April we reviewed CARES with students and provided time to discuss ways to show CARES at school.  During the month of May, we will be discussing the different feelings and strategies associated with the Zones of Regulation.  Students learned about which feelings connect with each zone and what strategies pair with that feeling. Thanks to our generous PTO, every classroom and hallway will have the Zones of Regulation posters available for students to see and use.  We will also continue to support our Cardinals through mindfulness videos created by their fellow students.

As always, thank you for your continued support and teamwork.  We are very lucky to be part of such a collaborative community.

Best,

Judy O’Meara, Principal

Meghan Amado, Assistant Principal

Rosie Payne, Interim Assistant Principal

Coins For Kyle/Make-A-Wish

Coins for Kyle

benefits Make-A-Wish, providing wishes to kids. CES Media Specialist Miss Groves is taking on the Trailblaze Challenge in honor of sweet, kind-hearted Kyle Ashley on June 12, 2021. A wish can be a spark that helps children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. Help Miss Groves make wishes come true by collecting a few coins to donate. Place your coins in the water jugs throughout the grade level hallways and the office!
